Royal baby – The Queen and Others share delight over Baby Sussex
Royal baby – The Queen, Prince of Wales and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today shared their delight at the arrival of the royal baby, with William welcoming the Duke of Sussex into the “sleep deprivation society”.
The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh in a rare public appearance at Windsor Castle, was the first to speak out on Tuesday as she was quizzed by members of the Order of Merit at a luncheon.
“Life is good for Your Majesty?” she was asked.
The smiling Queen replied: “Yes, thank you”
“Congratulations. Another great-grandchild!” she was told.
The Queen replied happily: “Yes, I know.”
She was then asked: “How many of them have you got now?” She replied: “Eight”.
Meanwhile, Charles, accompanied by the Duchess of Cornwall on engagement in Berlin, said: “We couldn’t be more delighted at the news and we’re looking forward to meeting the baby when we return.”
And William, speaking outside the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, south-east London, said: “Obviously thrilled, absolutely thrilled, and obviously looking forward to seeing them in the next few days when things have quietened down.
The Duchess of Cambridge added: “It’s such a special time. Obviously, with Louis and Charlotte just having had their birthdays, it’s such a great time of year to have a baby, spring is in the air.
“As William said, we’re looking forward to meeting him and finding out what his name’s going to be, so it’s really exciting for both of them and we wish them all the best.
“These next few weeks are always a bit daunting the first time around so we wish them all the best.”
