Kind stranger gives £5,000 to crash victim for dream Disney World trip
A kind stranger has given £5,000 to a car crash victim, who has undergone more than 132 hours of surgery, so she can go to Walt Disney World Florida.
The 30-year-old victim, from Wirral, Liverpool, was pinned between two cars in the town, following a three-vehicle crash in September.
A successful businessman has now come forward to donate £5,000 to pay for her dream trip, after reading about her plight in the Liverpool Echo .
The benefactor, who also does not wish to be named, is also in Aintree hospital, like the injured woman, where he is battling a leg infection.
But he will be home and fully recovered within the next couple of weeks, while the Wallasey woman has a huge battle ahead of her for the rest of her life.
The kind-hearted stranger, who runs a factory in Skelmersdale, near Wigan, told the Echo: “I’m in the same hospital and reading this story really touched me.
“I’d like to give her a target, something to look forward, to help her. It’s shocking what’s happened to her.
“I’ve got a minor leg infection, and have only been in Aintree for a week. My leg will be sorted. But the catalogue of injuries sustained by this lady – how do you face that?
“I’m in position to help this kid, and if it only gives her a target in her mind, then it’s worth giving.
“I can’t imagine what it’s like to face the future without two legs.”
When the Echo informed the family of the hugely generous offer, Maria, the mum of the 30-year-old, broke down in tears.
She said: “I can’t believe that. It’s the first nice thing to happen to this family for ages.
“I want to thank him personally. I’m gobsmacked. I’m on Universal Credit so money is a struggle.”
Maria currently gets taxis from her home in Wallasey to Aintree, but that cash, which comes from a solicitor’s firm, is soon set to run out.
The mum says she struggles to get to see her daughter as she suffers daily with anxiety and depression, along with agoraphobia.
She added: “I haven’t felt happiness like this in a long time. I’m still in shock”
The woman initially lost her left leg and hip following the horrendous collision on Seabank Road, Wallasey, Wirral, and has recently lost her right leg, just above the knee.
She has had many skin grafts and will be sent to theatre for surgery almost once a week.
Police are still investigating the crash which happened at 7.25am collision on September 7.
The 30-year-old was leaving her friend’s home in Wallasey and was about to get in a taxi when the crash happened.
It involved a Renault Megane, a Peugeot Sport HDI and a Skoda Octavia.
