Mum explains how to get £25 worth of Morrisons food for just £3
A MUM from Herefordshire has managed to bag £25 worth of food from Morrisons for just £3 using a food waste app.
Tammy Warren, 36, paid £3.09 for a huge box of fresh food using the Too Good To Go app, which aims to cut down on food waste.
Supermarkets and restaurants who’ve signed up to the app can list food that will otherwise be thrown out because it’s reached its best before date.
The mum-of-two, who works in insurance, reckons that the bag of goods will last the family of four for around three days.
The box included a bag of King Edward potatoes, limes, pomegranates, bananas, peppers, two bags of chestnuts and a bag of New York bagels.
Some of the food, including three cucumbers and a bag of sweet peppers, already had yellow reduced stickers on them.
Tammy ordered the box at 6pm on a Tuesday evening in early December and arranged to pick it up the following day.
“I love to cook and liked the idea of a surprise bag – it’s kind of like the programme Ready Steady Cook,” she said.
“I cook from fresh for the whole family every day and love that you can get such a variety of ingredients, as some items I may not normally buy.
“We are currently weaning our daughter who is almost one and weblog her weaning journey and share it on Facebook at @whatevvyeats so the items in the magic bags are a great way to help me think of new ideas.
“So far we’ve had two evening meals for four, breakfast this morning and plenty for tomorrow.

“I’ve made 12 mini banana loaves to freeze and a large banana loaf. The rest of the bananas will be frozen for smoothies.
“I would expect it to make or go towards meals for the rest of the week too.”
Tammy shared her spoils on the LatestDeals.co.uk Facebook group where it’s received more than 200 likes and over 100 comments.
It’s not the first time she’s managed to bag a bargain on the app.
In mid- November, she bought her first Morrisons box but admits that she’s not always been so lucky.
The first box came with 21 avocados in it leaving her “disappointed” and since then the crates have been unavailable or sold out every time she checked the app.
Tammy added: “The first box I was a little disappointed and slightly overwhelmed with the 21 avocados, but this time I was delighted, such a great selection and an absolute bargain too.
“My advice would be to keep trying, you might get lucky and it’s such a great way to stop food waste too.”
